The Okanagan Valley is located in Southern British Columbia, Canada and is one of the warmest regions in Canada. The Okanagan includes Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Lake Country, Peachland, Summerland, Oliver, Osoyoos, Armstrong and Enderby
The valley is a 4 season’s playground! In the winter, it’s all about the skiing and there are four world class ski hills to choose from: Big White Ski Resort, Silver Star Mountain Resort, Sun Peaks Resort, and Apex Mountain Resort. The skiing is world-class, the scenery is breathtaking and there’s nothing like Okanagan powder! Our ski resorts are even open in the summer for hiking, mountain biking and a variety of other activities.
In the summer, the valley has a number of lakes to choose from. The Okanagan Lake is the hub of much water activity and spans 110km (68 miles) from north (Vernon) to the south (Penticton). Kelowna sits -just about- in the middle! There’s a lot going on in the summer months in the Okanagan Valley; camping, boating, fishing, diving, the famous trestles, ziplining, and even the thrill of our very own lake monster – the Ogopogo! If you’d like to learn more about the many things the valley offers, visit Tourism Kelowna.
Spring and autumn are full of activities as we wind up for ski season, or wind down for Lake Season. Either way, there is always something to do! And when you end your day of activities, it’s time for a glass of wine, made right here in the Okanagan Valley!
The entire valley is known for its spectacular vineyards that produce award winning wines. Over 30 wineries are located in Kelowna with well over 200 wineries in the whole Okanagan Valley region. The sun-drenched valley surrounding Kelowna is dotted with farm-gate wineries too, where each vintage is lovingly bottled by hand. All wineries offer wine tasting and there are many tours to choose from. If you’d like to learn more about Okanagan Valley wine or the wineries, visit Tourism Kelowna!
We simply can’t finish an Okanagan Lifestyle page without mentioning golf. Kelowna offers one of the longest, driest golf seasons in Canada and it’s not unheard of to see people on the golf course in November. Mild weather, stunning scenery and more than 18 golf courses make Kelowna a must-play destination on every golf enthusiast’s list!
